(Glen Rose, TX) — Fire crews are continuing to battle the Chalk Mountain wildfire in Somervell County that has grown now to over 6,300 acres.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the blaze had destroyed 16 homes and damaged five others and was only ten-percent contained. The fire has scorched an area of more than nine square miles near the town of Glen Rose. Some residents and livestock have been evacuated to the Somervell County expo center.
The Red Cross has been called in to help evacuees.
