(Waco, TX)  —  A 29-year-old New Jersey man is dead after contracting a brain-eating amoeba from a wave pool at a resort in Waco.

Fabrizio Stabile died of the rare illness at the Atlantic City Medical Center.  BSR Cable Park’s Surf Resort in Waco has shut down as a precaution while CDC officials test the water.  Swimmers can contract the deadly infection if contaminated water gets into their mouths or noses.
