(Fort Worth, TX) — A North Texas man is officially cleared in the 1996 murder of a Bedford woman.
A Tarrant County judge exonerated John Nolley after prosecutors filed paperwork asking for the charges to be dismissed. Nolley spent almost 20 years in prison for the death of Sharon McLane before he was let out on bond in 2016. His conviction was later overturned by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.
It was determined a handprint found on McLane’s body didn’t belong to Nolley. Two jailhouse informants were also discovered to have provided faulty testimony in the case.
