(GRANBURY, TX) – The new year will bring a changing of the guard in Hood County, but they’ll be dealing with an old problem, an aging county jail.
January 1st will see a new Hood County Judge and two new Commissioners on the court. According to the Hood County News, the county spends about $700,000 per year to house inmates in other counties and considering the county’s growth, that figure could reach $1 million. No formal decision has been made on whether to build a new jail or upgrade and expand the current one, but the choice will likely be made by the new court next year.
