(ARLINGTON, TX) — Officials in Arlington say a dam in the northern section of the city has eroded and could give way, possibly resulting in flooding of roadways.

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams declared a state of disaster after city staff examined the Prestonwood Lake Dam.  After heavy rainfall throughout the Metroplex yesterday, city officials fear the failure of the dam “may be imminent”.  It’s part of a private lake system located north of Lamar Boulevard and south of Northwest Green Oaks Boulevard.

The city says it is monitoring the situation.
