(Undated) – By wide margins, voters in Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker and Wise Counties passed a proposition to end forced annexation going from Tier 1 to Tier 2 status.

The change in status means local governments will now have to ask voters to decide if they want their property annexed.   Texas is one of a few states that allows forced annexation, meaning a municipality can annex an unincorporated property without an owner’s consent.  Parker, Palo Pinto, Johnson and Wise Counties were four of the five Texas Counties with a Tier 2 proposition on the ballot.
