(Waco, TX) – The grandmother of two children who died in a Waco house fire November 2nd,  has been charged with reckless injury to a child for allegedly not helping the toddlers escape.

A 2-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy died in the fire from smoke inhalation.  Waco Police say 44-year-old Andrea Aleman “abandoned her grandchildren in a burning house and took no action to get them help” until it was too late.  According to the Waco Tribune, Aleman and an 11-year-old child escaped the blaze, which firefighters believe started in the back kitchen.

There were no working fire alarms in the house.
