(Fort Worth, TX)  —  Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald is being named as the new police commissioner for Baltimore, Maryland.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said she believes Fitzgerald is best suited to lead the department forward.  Fitzgerald will serve as acting commissioner until the Baltimore City Council confirms him.  Fort Worth officials say Fitzgerald has not yet submitted his resignation.
