Arlington GM plant spared closure for now

(Arlington, TX) — General Motors workers in Arlington are relieved to know that their workplace isn’t among the plants the auto giant plans to close.

GM announced Monday it will shut down five plants in the U.S. and Canada in the coming year, putting more than 14-thousand employees out of work.  Some 62-hundred factory workers could lose their jobs, but some may be transferred to Arlington or other factories.

The Arlington GM plant produces SUVs.  The plants being closed all produce passenger cars, and Americans are buying fewer of them.
