(Fort Worth, TX) — Five shoplifting suspects are in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase.

An off-duty Fort Worth police detective was shopping when he witnessed the grab-and-dash crime at a Dick’s Sporting Goods about 9 p.m. Monday.  He called dispatch with a description of the getaway car and its license plate.  Officers used spike strips to stop the car in the Weatherford Traffic Circle about 25-miles away.  Police arrested five suspects ranging in age from 17 to 20.

They all now face charges of theft, evading arrest, and organized criminal activity.
