(Fort Worth, TX)  —  A Tarrant County boy is being honored for notifying the Texas A&M Forest Service about the presence of an invasive beetle.

In August, eleven-year-old Sam Hunt photographed an unusual beetle in his back yard.  He believed the bug was an Emerald Ash Borer, a destructive pest that’s killed millions of ash trees in the United States.  Sam tipped off the Forest Service, and they confirmed his discovery.  Sam was honored Wednesday night as a Junior Forester.
