(Lewisville, TX) — A woman once known as “The Girl in the Closet” is under arrest and charged with sexual assault of a child.

Lewisville police have arrested now 25-year-old Lauren Kavanaugh for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.  From age 2-8, Kavanaugh suffered years of physical and sexual abuse by her family about 20 years ago and was kept in a 4×8 closet inside their trailer home in Hutchins.  She was eight-years-old and weighed 25 pounds when she was rescued in 2001.  Kavanaugh reportedly connected with the teenager via a Facebook page that she runs to offer help to other victims of abuse.

Police are looking for more potential victims.
