(Quinlan, TX) — The Hunt County Sheriff’s Office is investigating Sunday’s fatal shooting of a 15-year-old girl’s medical service dog.

Hannah Westmoreland was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of eight, and she got the service dog, named Journey, when she was 12.  She says Journey saved her life more than once by nudging her if her insulin levels got too high.  Police say somebody shot and killed the dog Sunday morning at the family property in Quinlan for no apparent reason.

A Go Fund Me page, Justice4Journey has been set up to help the family with Vet bills and for reward money to find Justice’s killer.  So far they’ve raised over $6,000.
