(Houston, TX) — A newly elected Republican congressman from the Houston area is refusing to take his six-figure pay during the partial government shutdown.
Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw posted on Facebook that he’s foregoing his pay until Congress and President Trump agree on adequate funding for border security. Crenshaw is one of more than 70 members of both houses of Congress who are declining their 174-thousand-dollar salary during the shutdown.
Many are donating their pay to charity or other causes.
