(Weatherford, TX) – Some schools in Weatherford could be making the switch from city to well water.

According to the Weatherford Democrat, school district officials are considering replacing city water with well water to irrigate the grounds at four campuses.  The school board is considering a plan to install water wells at Tison and Hall middle schools, the Ninth Grade Center and Weatherford High School.  The wells would provide water to sporting fields that require irrigation.

Weatherford ISD says approximately 5 years after the installation, the wells would eventually start saving the district about $170,000 per year in irrigation costs.  The cost to install one well at each secondary campus would be just over $802,000 plus additional maintenance costs after that.
