(Austin, TX) — Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick is pushing public school teacher pay raises.

He wrote in The Dallas Morning News that the Texas Senate is considering a bill which would give educators a five-thousand-dollar increase in their paychecks.  Patrick writes the raises are needed because of teacher turnover.  He believes it will cost almost four-billion to give teachers the across-the-board raises.
