(Mineral Wells, TX) – After a nearly 100-year presence in Mineral Wells, Simms Lumber has announced it is closing its local store and yard.

The Mineral Wells Index reports that the store’s General Manager made the announcement Friday.  For almost a century Simms Lumber, founded by John Simms Sr, has operated its original store and lumber yard at the corner of S.E. 3rd Street and S.E. 2nd Avenue in Mineral Wells.

Simms Lumber will continue to operate from its Weatherford location.  The Mineral Wells store plans a “giant” relocation sale before closing the its doors permanently.
