(Topeka, KS) — Payless ShoeSource reportedly plans to file for bankruptcy this month and close all of its retail outlets, including 44 in North Texas.
The Kansas-based company filed for bankruptcy two years ago, closing 400 stores. Payless emerged from bankruptcy about four months later with a reduced debt load and under ownership by creditors. The company has been trying unsuccessfully to find a buyer, but now plans to liquidate and close all of its more than two-thousand stores.
Last year the company moved its headquarters from Topeka to Dallas. Here’s a link to the stores in North Texas
