(Stephenville, TX) – Two former members of the Erath County Sheriff’s Department have been indicted on charges of abuse of official capacity and aggravated perjury.

According to the Stephenville Empire Tribune, former chief deputy Jason Upshaw and former captain Randy Fowler are expected to turn themselves in to authorities, but it is not clear when or where they will do so.  Wednesday’s indictments come more than two years after a slew of alleged wrongdoings, under former Sheriff Tommy Bryant, were made public at the Erath County Sheriff’s Department.

Both Upshaw and Fowler were terminated in 2016 and have since filed a federal lawsuit to try and clear their names.
