(Montreal, Quebec)  —  The Montreal Alouttes released former Heisman Trophy quarterback Johnny Manziel and the Canadian Football League has banned him for violating “one of the conditions” the league had established for him to be able to remain eligible.

The infraction was not released.  Manziel, who played at Texas A&M, is a former first-round pick of the Browns, but has not played in the NFL since 2015 after several off-the-field incidents, including a domestic violence charge.

Manziel Tweeted that he was looking forward to opportunities in the United States.
