(Weatherford, TX)  —  A Weatherford man is headed to prison for seven decades in connection with an attempted police ambush.

A District Judge sentenced Allen Dewayne Thomas Monday after he admitted to opening fire on Parker County deputies in April 2017.  Prosecutors say Thomas lured deputies to his property in Southwest Parker County on a fake trespassing call.  Some shots fired by Thomas hit their patrol cars, but no deputies were injured.  The 49-year-old eventually surrendered.  Thomas was charged with 4 counts of Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant.

A motive behind the ambush was not released, however Thomas’ attorney said the former Marine Corp veteran suffered from PTSD.
