(Austin, TX) — The state House and Senate are still wrangling over the two key issues of this year’s legislative session: school funding and property tax relief.

The two chambers are close to agreement on issues such as border security but are billions of dollars apart on school funding.  The House budget proposal will be debated on the House floor starting Wednesday, and the Senate proposal gets a hearing in the Finance Committee at the end of the week.

Both proposals include measures for property tax reductions, but the details will have to be ironed out.
