(Austin, TX) — Hemp is a step closer to becoming legal in Texas.
The Texas House gave tentative approval today to a bill allowing farmers to grow hemp once the Texas Department of Agriculture comes up with regulations. It will also let businesses sell hemp-based products. The state will have to come up with a plan to monitor hemp production and submit to the federal government.
The House still would have to vote on the bill a final time before it heads to the Texas Senate.
