(Erath County, Tx) – The bodies of a mother and her two children were recovered from floodwaters after their vehicle was swept off a rural road in Erath County.

The Sheriff’s office said the family’s car went into the water at a crossing on FM 1702, three miles south of Dublin.  The body of Monica Valdez was found inside the vehicle, the bodies of her 3-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were discovered downstream.  The children’s father, Gerardo Ramirez was able to get out of the vehicle and was rescued.  Investigators say evidence shows the parent’s tried to get the children out of the car but were unsuccessful.

The family were residents of a small town in Comanche County.
