(Weatherford, Tx) – An 800-year-old femur bone was discovered in the Brazos River when a Parker County resident went fishing.

The Weatherford Democrat reports the fisherman noticed the leg bone in the water back on March 22nd.  The bone was taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office so a forensic anthropologist could test it for identification.  Carbon 14 dating showed the human femur bone to be from 1286 to 1398 A.D.

Authorities believe the bone may have come from a Caddo Indian that once lived in the area.  No word yet on whether the bone belonged to a man or woman.
