(Austin, TX) — Texas is on the verge of raising the legal smoking age to 21.
You currently have to be at least 18 to buy tobacco products in Texas. The state senate recently approved a bill to raise the smoking age in Texas to 21, and on Tuesday, the House passed a preliminary version of the bill. A final version still has to be approved by the Senate and is expected to pass.
The new bill will also apply to e-cigarettes. Military members stationed in Texas will be exempt from the new smoking law.
