(Fort Worth, TX) — A man surprised a Federal courtroom by pleading not guilty in connection with the kidnapping a Fort Worth girl.

Michael Webb was originally expected to admit to the charges at Wednesday’s hearing.  Prosecutors say Webb did not have an official plea agreement in place and has another court hearing set for next week.  After his change of heart, Prosecutors quickly presented the case to a federal grand jury and got an indictment.

Webb was arrested in May after police say he abducted the girl while she was walking with her mom, then took her to a Forest Hill motel where she was found 12 hours later.
