(Abilene, TX)  —  Heat stroke appears to be the cause of a North Texas prisoner’s death.

A Texas Department of Criminal Justice official tells Houston Chronicle paramedics found Seth Donnelly with a core temperature of 106 on Friday.  The 29-year-old Fort Worth man had participated in a training exercise at the Robertson Unit near Abilene earlier that morning.  He died two days after being found unresponsive and taken to the hospital.

TDCJ says Donnelly did test positive for meth but noted the quick testing results may not be reliable.  No drugs were found in his housing unit.  Donnelly was serving a 12-year sentence for intoxicated manslaughter out of Tarrant County.
