4th of July Turns Deadly With Four Drownings

(Fort Worth, Tx) – The 4th of July holiday was a deadly one on the water.

Four drowning deaths were reported across North Texas, including one at PK Lake, one in Cleburne and another at Lake Grapevine.  Authorities say the 31-year-old Arlington man that drowned at Possum Kingdom was not wearing a life jacket.  Texas Parks & Wildlife says the man was on a float and lost his balance.  Rescue crews were unable to revive him.   A 17-year-old boy swimming with his family at Rockledge Park on Lake Grapevine, went under the water and didn’t resurface.  A dive team later recovered his body.

In Cleburne, a 42-year-old man reportedly drowned in a pool at a home on Willow Creek Road after suffering a head injury.  The 4th drowning was a 7 yr old boy at a lake in Collin County.
