(Springtown, Tx) – Nine people have been arrested in connection with an illegal horse racing track operating in Springtown.
The Parker County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday’s arrests came out of a several weeks long joint investigation with the Dept of Public Safety. More than 1,000 people reportedly attended the unsanctioned races, located on Walnut Creek Drive in Springtown. Dozens of horses were found at the scene. Investigators also found cattle prods and syringes with illegal medications used for doping horses.
The woman believed to be the running the illegal horse race operation has been identified as 41-year-old Yesenia Garza of Arlington. Five of the 9 arrested are being detained by ICE. No spectators were arrested.
