(San Antonio, TX)  —  Swarms of crickets are overrunning the San Antonio area.

Large numbers started to appear on Monday evening, and by Tuesday the insects were everywhere.  Molly Keck, an insect specialist with Texas A&M Agrilife, says the cricket population explosion was caused by the right mix of weather conditions, including a dry summer, the recent rains, and the cold front.

Keck says the bugs are likely to be around in large numbers for at least a couple of weeks.
