(Fort Worth, TX) — Fort Worth is now free to hire a permanent police chief, since a judge refused to extend a restraining order blocking the city from making the move.

Fired Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald had obtained the order during his ongoing attempts to get his job back.  He claims city leaders fired him because he was about to expose corruption and a cover-up at City Hall.

Fort Worth city officials say they’re not in a hurry to hire a new chief, since they’re pleased with the job being done by Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus.
