(Weatherford, Tx) – Weatherford police say Thursday around noon, they were attempting to approach a man suspected of theft in the Lowes’ parking lot when he jumped in a pickup, rammed a police vehicle, then drove off and the chase was on.

During the chase, the suspect hit another vehicle before crashing into a fence close to Patriot Drive and B.B. Fielder Rd.  A few minutes later, police got a call from a homeowner about a man matching the description of the suspect that had broken into their house on Briarwood Street and tried to steal their vehicle at gunpoint. As officers were closing in, a 2nd call came in from another homeowner on Briarwood, stating a white male had broken into their home and stole a pickup at gunpoint.  The stolen truck was spotted heading eastbound on I-20.

The man eventually bailed out on the service road in Hudson Oaks and took off on foot.  DPS Troopers got involved in the chase and witnessed the man carjacking a driver at gunpoint.  To stop him from getting away again, the Troopers rammed their patrol car into the vehicle and quickly took the man into custody.

The unidentified man was taken to Medical City Hospital with minor injuries.  He faces numerous charges including evading arrest and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
