Mother Of Atatiana Jefferson Dies

(Fort Worth, TX) — The mother of a woman shot to death by a now-former Fort Worth police officer in her own home is dead.

Attorney Lee Merritt says Yolanda Carr died Thursday morning from an illness. Carr’s daughter, Atatiana Jefferson, had been taking care of the woman when she was allegedly killed by Aaron Dean last October.

Dean is under indictment for murder and had responded to Jefferson’s home after a neighbor reported an open door. Jefferson’s father also recently died from a heart attack.
