(Arlington, TX) — A sales tax increase may be on the ballot in Arlington’s upcoming election.
City council will discuss the proposed sales tax hike in next week’s meeting. The proposal would end up on the May 2nd ballot, and if voters approve, it would raise Arlington’s sales tax from eight-percent to eight-and-a-quarter. That rate matches most other Texas cities, and is the highest allowed by state law.
City officials say it may enable some property tax relief.
