(Mineral Wells, Tx) – Embattled Mineral Wells Mayor Christopher Perricone has apparently been ousted on the basis that he was deemed no longer qualified to hold the office of Mayor under the city’s charter.
The Mineral Wells Index reports Perricone is in arrears on property taxes for his home and at least one other property in the city. A special city council session was held Friday to discuss filling the mayor’s vacancy based on the “result of immediate forfeiture.” His two-year term ends in May.
Perricone posted on Facebook that he questions the accuracy of the tax arrears claim by the city. Perricone is currently running as a Republican candidate for Texas House District 60.
