(Washington, DC) —  Texas Senator Ted Cruz is under self-quarantine after coming in contact with someone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The GOP senator says the interaction happened ten days ago at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland and amounted to a brief chat and a handshake.

Cruz doesn’t have any symptoms of the respiratory illness, and health officials tell him it’s unlikely he caught it.  Still, he says he’ll be at his home in Texas until a full 14 days since the interaction has passed.
