Three North Texas PDs Using Face Recognition Software

(Fort Worth, TX) — Three North Texas police departments using a new facial recognition app on a trial basis.

The police in Fort Worth, Irving and Plano have been using Clearview A-I’s new app since the beginning of the year. The app attempts to identify an unknown person by comparing his picture to a database of more than three-billion images the company found on the Internet. Clearview A-I says the results are more than 99-percent accurate.

Social media sites such as Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter are demanding the company knock it off.
