(Austin, TX) — State Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office is investigating more than 250-cases of price gouging triggered by the coronavirus outbreak.

The state ban on price gouging went into effect when Gov. Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration on Friday.  Most of the complaints are coming from Dallas and Houston, and involve prices on toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and bottled water.

State law says merchants who gouge during a disaster face heavy fines.
