(Austin, TX) — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing a Houston company for auctioning personal protective gear needed by hospitals nationwide.
Paxton filed suit on Thursday against Auctions Unlimited LLC, which he says was selling breathing masks, hand sanitizer, and other equipment at excessive prices. He points out that the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act prohibits price gouging during a declared disaster.
Paxton says local police and his own office warned Auctions Unlimited owner Tim Worstell to stop the practice.
