(Austin, TX) — Texas state troopers are operating checkpoints at the Texas-Louisiana line to screen people driving in from the Pelican State.

Inbound drivers are expected to fill out a form telling where they plan to self-quarantine for 14-days, which is mandatory for people arriving from Louisiana.  The paperwork will also ask for driver’s license info so troopers can do a random follow-up at a later time.  The troopers started running the checkpoints on Sunday.

People who violate the order could be fined a thousand-dollars or spend 180-days in jail.
