(Dallas, TX) — Thousands of Southwest Airlines flight attendants are going on voluntary leave next month.

A Southwest spokesperson tells The Dallas Morning News it’s just a short-term adjustment due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Southwest CEO Gary Kelly has said he does not want to furlough any employees.

The low fare air carrier is working with the federal government on getting grants and loans to help cover costs.
