(Austin, TX)  —  The pandemic has hit the nation’s meat processing plants, and temporary shortages are expected to result.

Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller says the meat shortage should last about a month. Miller says there’s no truth to rumors that the government is ordering farmers and ranchers to euthanize livestock and destroy crops.

He says the Centers for Disease Control is working with meat-packing plants to reopen them safely.
