(Dallas, TX) —  A North Texas nurse is feeling pretty special following Sunday’s Real Heroes 400 race.

Jake Hopkinson, an emergency room trauma nurse at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, was selected as a grand marshal along with other frontline workers across the nation.  Hopkinson’s name was featured on the car of driver Erik Jones during the televised race out of South Carolina.  The nurse, who was nominated by Methodist and FOX4 TV, watched the sporting event during a social distancing party at the hospital.

Hopkinson told FOX4 he doesn’t feel like a hero as he is just doing his job, but he had hope that seeing the first major sporting event in a while would be a light for many.
