(Fort Worth, TX)  —  There’s a blank space on the Tarrant County Courthouse lawn where the Confederate monument used to be.

County commissioners voted last week to remove the marker, and it was hauled away on Saturday morning.  The cost to remove the monument and landscape the area was nearly $17,000.

The United Daughters of the Confederacy placed the monument in 1953.  It’s now in storage until the commissioner’s court decides what to do with it.  The monument may be donated to a museum or historic organization.
