(Fort Worth, TX) —  Tarrant County is continuing its partnership with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement.

County commissioners voted to extend the arrangement, known as a 287-g, after four hours of public comment and another hour of debate.  The partnership allows specially trained county jailers to interview people brought to the jail in order to determine their immigration status.

The jailers can place detainers on inmates believed to be in the country illegally, and the inmates are handed over to ICE.
