(Fort Worth, TX) — MedStar says drownings are on the rise in North Texas as summer approaches.
The Tarrant County ambulance service says they responded to 11 drownings between May 1st and Sunday of this week. That’s more than twice as many as at the same time last year. On Saturday, a 28-year-old man drowned in Lake Worth while trying to save his young daughter. The girl survived. It was the second drowning at Lake Worth this month.
MedStar points out most drownings this year have been in public places such as lakes, rivers and community swimming pools.
