(Weatherford, TX) — Another Confederate monument may bite the dust soon, this time in Parker County.
A statue honoring Confederate soldiers has stood on the county courthouse lawn in Weatherford for more than a century. The United Daughters of the Confederacy want the statue to be removed and returned to them for safe keeping, since it’s been vandalized twice recently. The organization says they’re the rightful owners of the statue, and Parker County Judge Pat Deen says he thinks they’ve got a case.
Commissioners will consider their request on Monday.
