(San Antonio, TX)  —  San Antonio-based grocery chain HEB says it plans to make its temporary “Texas Proud Pay” permanent, amounting to the biggest wage increase in the company’s history.

HEB says the two-dollar-per-hour raise was originally a temporary measure for employees on the job during the coronavirus pandemic.  After being extended three times since April, “Texas Proud Pay” was slated to end on Sunday.  The raise is now permanent.
