(Fort Worth, TX) — State officials say a Tarrant County dog is the first Texas animal with a confirmed case of coronavirus.
The Texas Animal Health Commission stated that the dog was diagnosed on Tuesday. A veterinarian tested the two-year-old dog after its owners were found to have the virus. The dog is reportedly fine. Ten other animals have tested positive nationwide.
State Veterinarian Dr. Andy Schwartz says pets can catch the virus, but there’s no evidence they can spread it.
